will eats

This website is an ongoing record of my adventures in gastronomy, and although the title of 'web diary' is tiresome, I suppose it is one. I have been keeping a note of worthy things eaten for seven years, the scrawlings from which can be seen in Bastards- the early tears (left).  I will report culinary peaks and troughs focusing on the genesis of the meal from conception to execution since for me, it is a dynamic process inspired by mood, weather, books, the butchers window, my vegetable box and I have even had the odd gastro dream. Often the original idea mutates into something quite unplanned, and as with species some are successful, others most certainly fail. To me it would seem useful to include these mishaps rather than the rigid formulae of a recipe in a book. I hope so.

'SH' refers to Simon Hopkinson who, as the Independent on Saturday food writer for 8 years, distracted me from my studies. I have a good proportion of his articles from this period and am scanning them in slowly, as many are getting stained and rumpled. A lot are in his books, but they edit out the good chat and tirades which is a shame

BE WARNED- this is a low recipe zone. Writing recipes slow the creative processes down, hence Delia's treacle like presentation. Where necessary I expand upon a technical point , but otherwise the main idea is to provide inspiration. Bold type should roughly indicate the main content. The bits in between describe its creation. When I remember I put a note of liquid entertainment in the margin.
